Metro now packages its stone-coated lineal accessory items in three sizes of lineal boxes for all stocking distributor customers. These new lineal boxes now reflect the following item parts and quantity counts per box. Each box is 80-inches long.
Roofing Products are NOT included in Canada’s ENERGY STAR program. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) works closely with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to harmonize product specifications and promote consistency between the ENERGY STAR programs in Canada and the United States. Nevertheless, differences in program approaches do exist, occasionally resulting in differences between the types of products and activities supported by the program in the two countries.
METRO ROOF PRODUCTS opened its plant doors to the North American, residential re-roofing market in early 2000 for the purpose of manufacturing stone-coated steel roofing panels and accessories. “The facility, located in Oceanside, California, was designed to supply products to the North American market, which includes the U.S. and Canada,” explains VP of Sales & Marketing, Pete Croft. Though the Metro brand is global in reach, the manufacturing facilities in New Zealand and Belgium operate autonomously from the Metro Roof Products USA factory.
ENERGY STAR® Colors: The Energy Star® rated colors are eligible for the federal Tax Credit. Energy Star® rated colors must meet a minimum reflectivity of 25% when new and 15% when aged for three (3) years. CALIFORNIA TITLE-24 CRRC Colors: The Title-24 CA Energy Code requires roofs in certain climate zones (10-15 for 2014) to be Cool Roofs that provide 20% aged Solar reflectance and 75% aged Thermal Emittance or meet one of the exceptions noted in the Title-24 code. The reflective levels of these colors are shown below along with their respective price list category based on the color.
Metal Roofing Magazine “Metal of Honor”
Allen Jones couldn’t believe what he was seeing. The house under construction had not yet been insulated when the roof went on. “Normally, that makes it like an oven inside,” Jones said.“ But this was noticeably cooler. I had a hard time keeping my guys outside working.” Jones, the construction supervisor for Habitat for Humanity Riverside, had only one explanation for the frosty interior of the single-story house in Southern California: The roof. The previous day, John Popa Roofing, Anaheim, Calif., had installed a stone-coated steel roof system by Metro Roof Products. The product’s assembly design provides natural venting and air flow that reduces attic temperatures compared with traditional roofing such as asphalt shingles.

Sometimes, it’s what you know AND who you know. Ashley Furniture HomeStores, the largest home furnishings manufacturer in the United States and the No. 1 selling brand in North America, wanted blue roofing accents on its new buildings. The company had long chosen to install tile roofing and then paint it to match the Ashley Furniture Blue. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t take long before the blue paint faded and the clay tiles were no longer Ashley Blue.
These install details are provided to demonstrate the recommended installation method for Metro Roof products and accessories The Details and information in this document reflect current roofing practices used in the United States. Consult with Metro Roof Products for additional information.
Builders and architects are changing the way they select building materials and design for energy performance. The roof can have the greatest impact on the energy use of a building. Coatings and finishes available today qualify metal as a recognized cool roof product. Buildings consume one-third of all energy and two-thirds of all electricity generated. Cool roofs can help reduce energy consumption by lowering cooling loads. Lightly colored, more reflective roofs save up to 40% in cooling energy, as reported by the Heat Island Group of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Cool metal roofing is a family of sustainable, energy efficient roofing products comprised of unpainted metal, prepainted metal and granular-coated metal. It is available in a wide variety of finishes, colors, textures, and profiles, for steep-slope and low-slope applications. Cool metal roofing products are part of an interdependent system of exterior roofing surfaces, substrates, underlayments, configurations, ventilation, and insulation.
Going green is easy with a Metro roof, as we not only have a select group of colors that meet the federal Energy Star® reflectivity we also have some colors that meet the CRRC Rated Product criteria for California and all MetroSHAKE®, MetroTILE® & MetroROMAN® panel profiles provide an ‘Above Sheathing Ventilated Space’ (ASV) which has been proven to provide energy efficiency to a home.
